What We Sacrifice for Beauty (and Love)

A woman who is not loved may preserve her beauty, like a butterfly pinned under glass. Without love the skin remains unworn, for it is still unexposed to the torrid flow of emotions and excitement of spirit love will cause. Yet feeling is lost without the brush of lips to keep it deeply sparked, and though the beauty is maintained like a wax mask, the soul will cower and die away like dead butterfly wings, like a neglected babe crying in the dark.
