B is for Bonjah, Beats and Beer

To ad the spontaneousness of my new life direction, Miss B and I decided to take a roadtrip one evening.....to Ballarat (for those of you who are not aware, it is a semi country town 2 hours drive from Melbourne. Now, you may ask, at 5:45 on a thursday evening after a whole day of uni (and by whole day i mean brunching in the morning at 'The Local' before going to class for 3 hours), why the hell would you want to do that? Well! I have one word for you, dear reader.

BONJAAAAAAAAAAAH!
yeh
So, we embarked on our adventure with a fabulous mix of obnoxiously happy 90's tunes, watching the lights go by along the Westgate, yelling at bad drivers and gradually being able to see the stars again :)

We reached the township of Ballart despite my directions :P yet, where was this elusive Karova lounge ?????!!! After much driving around and directions from Master T via telepathy we found it hiding out on camp street *giggle* to find that we were seriously early and that Bonjah were in the middle of doing sound check :D so we rocked out outside the place with the friendly security guard, and Miss B continued our reputation as serial band and musician freaks by scaring the bass player by sticking her head through the window while they were playing. Hehe
But yes, the Karavoa lounge turned out to be an excellent surprise :) it was like a cross between the Corner Hotel and Ruby's Lounge, with the best bits of both, and it appeared that all of Ballarats cute indie guy with good taste in music population had congregated there that night to drink beer and dance and have fun :) so after a bit of duck hunting (not the literal kind), Miss B and I spotted some of the band members milling aroud the crowd :) and after some shy glances and mental squeeing we made the resolve to talk to them before the night was out.
Needless to say, the concert was awesome...i needed a few beers but soon i was rocking out and dancing like a spaz like the rest of them (now really, who was going to know me in Ballarat?) to the slammin slinkster cool beats of Bonjah.

The set finished, and, red faced and sweaty from the beer and dancing, it was time to fullfil our mission. We sat sheepishly near the band entrance for a while, so entranced by the possibility of meeting them, Miss B didnt notice the seriously cute tech guy that kept shooting glances her way (he was quite a scrumptious biscuit). Miss B bought their EP and thanks to my alcohol fuelled confidence, got 3 members, including yummy lead singer Glenn to sign it for her :D :D we chatted and drank, our mission fullfilled. But there was still the unfinished buisness with cute tech guy, who continued to direct his eyes and smiles in our direction. With beer confidence still circulating in my veins, i convinced Miss B to leave her number next to his tech stuff.....we decided to keep the illusion of mystery, because there is nothing more dissapointing than pointless small talk.

All in all it was a very good adventure, and it was about to get better....after bailing from the Karova giddy with beats beer and Bonjah at about 12:30 am we started to make the long trip back to Melbourne :( We stopped at the servo about halfway home to buy pringles and iced coffee to stop Miss B from falling asleep at the wheel, which turned out to be a fabulous idea because who did we see passing us on the highway? only the Bonjah tour van!!!!!!! :D:D:D Our band freak status was elevated as we followed them most of the way home, full of giggles and obnoxiously upbeat music, and in all our excitement got lost and didn't make it home until 3 in the morning -_- But, as you can see it was totally worth it :D

So, yes, it was much much slammin' fun, and i can't wait to do it all again next week for the Basics :) Be prepared for the serial band freaks, Karova Lounge, we may make you our new 'Local'!!
